no duplicate mod files in different directories.do not modify the original game files, instead it load mod files on top of the game upon launching the game, by utilizing something called "virtual file system".I will start with SoC, but I will look for some animation and visual mods.Ĭall of Chernobyl also looks nice. Thanks for taking the time to give me some advice. I have finished all 3 games at least 3 times each (and almost all easter eggs and hidden spots), i also played Call of Misery, Dead Air, Anomaly and atm i am playing Road to the North, which is the mod i would recommend to everyone wanting to go further after finishing vanilla games. These games are sometimes bugged as hell (CS was not even playable at release, today's modding community did a really great job), they're not as gorgeous as some recent releases, but damnit, stalker games got something other don't own : they got a soul. I have played a lot of other games since i played stalker vanilla games, but i never found such good adventure/FPS action mix. Use a lot of quicksaves and you should be ok to reach the end of these games.

Just don't start on master level at first. Play vanilla games, you will enjoy them, they're hard though, the game won't take your hand, don't worry if you feel the game very hard at the beginning, it's much more satisfaying after, and you'll be better quickly once you got game mechanisms. Most mods i call "stalker +" (Like Misery, Call of Chernobyl, Lost Alpha, Dead Air, Anomaly, Road to the North.) will use CoP as it's the most recent engine even if they use map levels of previous games, so for those mods, only CoP is needed (even nothing with Anomaly, though it's better to get the game for copyright issues.). CoP is a sequel and won't interfere with SoC and CS stories, however, there are a lot of "Easter eggs" (like the Oasis, the Monolith renegade Strider.), it's more a standalone, and the main story happens after SoC events. Furthermore, i would also even advise to use "complete overhaul" mods that will enhance greatly vanilla games (SoC can hurt your eyes without a gfx mod^^, but it's really worth it).īest is to start with SoC which will set the main plot, CS is a prequel, but strongly rely on SoC, if you don't know Strelok's whole story, you won't understand the whole CS timeline (but you can still play it and understand the main plot without SoC, it's still much better to have played SoC before). Wonderful idea, i advise you to play vanilla before mods, because the main story is so surprising and well written. I will keep an eye out when picking mods to not influence the quests. But I would like to experience the story and stick to the main quest line. Originally posted by Kgr-BCartman:Okay, thanks for the tip.
